Barclaycard Application Referred ?

My wife has had a Barclaycard Initial for 6 months and always clears it in full by DD, asked Barclaycard if she could upgrade to gold and was told we no longer do upgrades you will need to apply for a new card.

So went on the Barclaycard preapplication checker and got told 70 - 80% chance of a gold, and 80 - 90% chance of an initial, so put through the gold application and got a 'We will write to you within 5 working days with our decision', so it’s not a no but it’s not a yes either.

What’s the chances do you think?

If you pass the scoring for Initial but fail for Gold they'll enclose an Initial application form which you can return immediately

I doubt it, she can only hold on Barclaycard at any one time.

I'm suprised the pre-check tool didn't tell her she already had an Initial Card and to call them?

There are no cards currently available if you already have a Barclaycard.

All changed since December now, you can have two Barclaycards if you want or you can apply online for the Gold and close your Initial down if you want or keep it. Since December Barclaycard no longer do upgrades and invite you to reapply online if you want a different card.

Not since December when the rules changed, they no longer do upgrades, you need to reapply if you want another type of card, and you can keep or close down you existing card. Had it confirmed by barclaycard both by email and by phone that this is now the case, and I read it elsewhere on the board about others being told the same.

Tis true, you can have more than one barclaycard, all inder teh same name etc - they will even all appear under the same userid on the account management pages when you log in.
