I need a new printer

I need a new printer and it only needs basic functions as I only print text cvs etc and the odd web page,I suppose being able to print envelopes is handy.
I have a samsung ml2010r at the moment which is going to get thrown out of the window soon as it keeps paper jamming its a laser printer
I'm not sure of the pros and cons of other types of printers I have heard about ink costing a fortune and ink drying up when the printer isn't used too often, which is a little worrying.
So if anyone could point me in the direction of a basic printer at a good price and where to get it from that would be of a lot of help to me

The Samsung ML2010 is a laser printer, not an inkjet and not a "laserjet" which is a HP trademark. It uses toner and not ink so it will never run dry. I'm surprised you're having problems with it because I know of a lot of those printers and they've all been spot on touch wood.
Personally I'd recommend a newer Samsung Laser printer; for me they've always been very reliable and cheap in terms of initial cost and ongoing costs.

A lot of Inkjets seem to be produced as an all in one at the moment and priced at not much more than a standalone printer

Has a reasonable scanner at 1200 x 2400dpi optical resolution and will produce a good photo when needed
You can get the preton ink saver free at the moment

If you rarely use the printer, you can produce a document which has a few lines of each colour and print it once a week, or use the nozzle check0 -
The price of inks has always been a bone of contention, I have tried all the named brands over the years, I would look at the Kodak printer with the cheap cartridges as advertised on tv at the moment, What part of the world are you in ?"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0

I bought a Kodak printer and don't really rate them very much as printers -- paper jams very easily, have to keep playing about with the print head.
Also the ink runs out very quickly. So, yes, they are cheaper to purchase but (appear to) last significantly less time.
