  • Good idea on the water meter, i'm going to ring my supplier in the AM and see if they do any kind of trial.

There are 3 charity shops near me who all sell furniture.
They have a man with a van who does all their deliveries-maybe something you could enquire about? What about Ebay deliveries?

That is an excellent idea. OH will follow up tomorrow as he has nothing on at the moment.

Unbelieveably I was just discussing a sovereign that was an 18th birthday present which I could consider selling.

I'm not a big jewellery person so thats it gold wise
  • Hiya, I hope you manage to sort it all out, I don't have much to adivse really but wondered if you know that the personal allowance rises in April to £7,475, it's not much but that's another £1,000 tax free, which is roughly £16 extra a month, not much but when it's tight it all counts :)

Your mortgage and secured loan combo looks like the major player here. On the new soa after mortgage and secured loan you only have £690 for everything else. Ok this is more than many have but this is going to be where the pinch is. Car parking at £80 is a big expense when fuel is £80 too. Your SOA shows £217 per month on the car costs alone. After car and mortgage/secured loan = £473 for everything else. There is not a lot of wriggle room there.

Has OH looked into something like Tescos to supplement earnings? I've had numerous friends work there and one even stayed on after his degree because the conditions were so good.

You seemingly would be fine if you could get your income up by £150.00 and if your OH got even a small part time job that would cover you.
  • OH is currently looking for either full time work or part time morning/evening job so he can still do self employment inbetween. Not much forthcoming at the moment, but I agree a part time job could be the answer. He's applied for two evening jobs today and a full time van driving job too, so hopefully he will hear back!

Plus it may be easier to get a part time than a full time job as many of the recession redundant will be after full time hours to replace jobs lost. He may be able to even get two part time jobs to add up to more money. Of course he may find it easier to get a job when he already has one, so even a short hours job may help him get a better one.
  • I'm hoping part time work will be easier to secure. I've just checked his email and he's got a reply from one of the evening jobs asking why he's looking for work. Hopefully this is positive. Fingers crossed anyway.
