Can you ebay anything to get some cash behind you. As it will hopefully be short term, could you got interest only on the mortgage for now? You just need a cushion. ref OH business. has he/she been to business link to see if there is anything they can do to get more money in.
what about doing mystery shopping (as they are already self employed that is one less thing for them to have to set up). both of you can do surveys online to get vouchers (put them towards christmas). But this still won't help enough I don't think. so I would suggest doing the CCCS debt remedy online. I think that they will suggest a dmp for you, BUT this will only be for the non secured debt, so it may not help you very much....
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Granny does not drive unfortunately so I have to get my son to her, if I didn't have a car I think I'd have to either walk 45 ish mins there and back or get two extra buses and I have to be at work by 08:00 so god knows what time I'd have to set off to manage that lol
I spoke to mortgage and loan company who can do half payments for three months then add the difference to the end of the loan or we pay it
back if things have improved then.
Failing that I think we will look and see if mortgage rescue becomes an option. To be honest oh has been looking for full time work for over a year and only stared self employment so he wasn't sat idle. He's an unskilled worker it's just totally dead on the job front round where we live so I think it's going to be a miracle if things come right for us now0 -
Hi BB46, what is the "other insurance" at £30+/month that crept in to your new SOA? Also, is there any way you can car-share from Granny's to & from work? Or, if hubby took toddler to/from Granny's would it be cheaper for you to get bus/train?
You said that hubby's earnings are erratic - is there a chance that they will increase? What does he do, could he work from home and mind toddler at same time?
Do you have a spare room you can rent out, sometimes there are people who need a room Monday to Friday, which isn't so intrusive.
Hope some of that helps. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
There may be a car share scheme I could get involved with, its a new job so i'll have to find out when I start. I've worked out its cheaper on the train than bus (and faster) there is free parking at my local station and I pass Grannys on my way there.
Hubby does house clearance / man and van work so its very up and down at the moment. It usually picks up when people start moving. I'm not sure what we could do to bring in more business, we've done advertising leaflets, advert in local magazine, ringing round local companies, google maps etc etc I think a call to Business Link is in order.
We do have a spare room, but i'm not sure i'd be comfortable with a stranger in the house with my son, as hes not two yet, but thanks for the suggestion we will consider it.0 -
I forgot the £30 originally, its for MPPI for OH, i'm not really sure if we should cancel this or not....0

if he's self employed then the MPPI won't pay out I don't think? do check it out.
might save you 30 a month - otherwise if it will pay out then keep it.

have you checked entitled to and found out whether you can claim some more benefits for your new situation?
have you checked you take home pay for the new job?
recalculate c/tax as well. save the 2 free months as you will need them.

Entitled to is coming up with roughly £50 per week in CTC based on what my 2010 to 2011 income will be
I'm just waiting for my new council tax bill, i've spoke to them and they will do 12 payments on my new bill.
I'm going to get OH to call up about MPPI but i'm sure they said self employed was OK when he changed, it was a pre-existing policy from when he was employed.
A rough calculation for my new job will be around £1000 per month, unless I get one of the other thousands that i've applied for recently
I'm just ebaying like a mad woman. I tried to put OH on there but apparently you can't put actual people on. Anyway, I probably would have ended up paying for someone to take him off my hands...........:rotfl:0 -
Hi - I think you can cut the SOA a little more:
a water meter is worth looking at - I think they put it in for a trial period to see if it will save money and if not you can get it taken out.
Mobile -even if in contract downgrade to the lowest possible tariff - you might need to consider ditching this and then offering token payments if this is the differene between affording your mortgage and secured loan and not.
Groceries - see if you can cut here - have a look on the Oldstyle board.
You hopefully have got 2 council tax free months coming up - save this and then you can use this later if needs be- it'll give you 1 more month's shortfall. Assuming a 4% rise (a random guess) then your council tax is 75 a month I think it worked out so that's another 10er saved at least.
Mortgage and secured loan half price for 3 months - you're only 135 a month short at the moment so if you free up over 525 a month the amount you can save will last you quite a few more months- 11?
CTC that would be a massive help if you get that - obviously.
My point is that even without CTC and any more savings you can make you've got 3 months half price mortgage and secured loan, 11 months after that with the amount you'll have spare from the half price mortgage to put towards a shortfall, 1 from the council tax so that's, 15 months minimum. Obviously any extra from ebaying etc and grocery savings etc will help but I think you'll be o.k anyway and hopefully in the next 12 months things will improve for you.

There are 3 charity shops near me who all sell furniture.
They have a man with a van who does all their deliveries-maybe something you could enquire about? What about Ebay deliveries?0
