tax credits overpayments

Hi

have had 3 seperate letters re overpayments, all very confusing, what I think has happened is, bear with me will try to make sense:-)

1. Informed HMRC that partner moved in - resulting in overpayment as they paid old claim and the new joint one - this is the only think I can think of, and therefore one payment landed from original claim and then new claim went through resulting in an over payment

2. Informed them partner had left, but they kept paying money in for another 3 months, then the new claim (single one) kicked in and they paid a payment in that was larger than normal payments i.e about £300 more than usual.

3. informed them child care stopped

whilst I can understand 1 and 3, I am unsure about 2 should they not have sorted this out?

anyway keep trying to call them to sort out, but can't get through its a nightmare, I have now written to them, should I now wait to hear back from them?

or do they have an email address?

I have written 3 seperate letters and asked them to clarify reasons for the overpayment.

Also, as one of the overpayments is a joint claim will my ex be jointly responsible i.e. for 50% of the amount to be paid back?

thanks and hope you can understand what I am trying to ask :-)
