Romantic hotel in Devon/North Cornwall?

I'd like to surprise my partner with a romantic night away later this month. Does anyone know of a special hotel that isn't too expensive? We like smaller towns and villages more than large ones ideally.

Hi would you consider a self catering cottage. https://www.chapelknap.co.uk have two lovely 1 bedroom cottages overlooking Porlock Weir.Absolutely lovely, very modern, and a good restaurant and thatched pub within 2 minutes walk. You can get a three night weekend for the same cost as a night at a hotel.

I have stayed there twice and been really impressed both times.

I know you said North Cornwall but the Harbour Inn in Porthleven is a lovely place to stay - it overlooks the harbour and there is a pub round the other side of the harbour called The Ship that has wonderful food and has loads of character.

Thank you! I'm happy to go further afield for the right place - and self catering is just as good as a hotel.
