Tumble dryer, condenser or vented?

Cheekyherb,
Mine used to wet the bed too, have patience they do get over it, at least we don't have to hand wash, or use the old washing machines, I can remember my mum with a wringer, it had a handle to turn and you fed the washing through it! Thank heavens for technology!0 -
I used to have a vented tumble dryer and now have a condensor tumble dryer and can't really see the difference between them in terms of how quickly they dry the clothes0

I have a condenser and it takes a while to dry the clothes but the heat that comes from it is amazing. If I am in the house alone I can switch the heating off and the heat is enough to heat the kitchen and living room.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

I prefer condenser dryers. More compact.0

Put it on Freecycle.
BTW......mine is now almost 18 years old!0 -
We used to have a vented dryer but after 17+ years it gave up. I now have in its place a condensor dryer, not sure why we went for it, but it is all singing all dancing and drys really well and I think more efficiently than the old one. Maybe though thats the reason the old one was 'old'£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.
Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz0 -
I've had a condenser for a few years now and it's a godsend. Heats the utility room which is in the coldest part of the house, and dries a large load reasonably quickly. As I've moved it around the house it's been so much easier not having to adjust venting etc.0

Thanks to all,
I have read every post, and I am learning a lot, fascinated by the idea of the dryer warming the room, my kitchen has a very small, badly positioned radiator, which will get moved when the kitchen eventually gets a refit. Any extra form of heating sound great! Still thinking the condenser dryer would be more practical, would be able to move it if I need to, and could get rid of the drafty vent, also take it that it would fit flush to the back wall, my vent pipe means the dryer sits proud of the worktop.
Anyone know of any bargain buys out there? Don't want cheap and nasty, just a good price for a quality item. I am in Scotland just north of the Forth Road Bridge.
Once again your comments are gratefully received!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Thanks Sublime,
I know cheap isn't always nasty, what I was trying to say was I am not looking for just the very lowest price. I want something that will last for a reasonable amount of time. Also I tend to go for the well known brands, I may be closing my eyes to a good item, just because it isn't a market leader. Sometimes recommendation from real live consumers can be better than looking at the wonderful advert from big manufacturers. Thanks a lot for the link, I am off to see what I can find!0
