Indoor HD aerial help please

:wave:Hi all

I bought a bargain full HD Tv (Freeview built in too) in the Next sale for my DD's bedroom. THere is no aerial point in her room so I bought a 'One for all' Full HD indoor aerial for her but this didn't do anything that a coat hanger could have done (which.. maybe niaively...surprised me) It picked up a few very snowy analogue channels but nowt else.

I am not technically minded at all OR well off and our home is HA owned so not sure I'd be allowed to install something but moreover suspect I'd never be able to afford it. Other than paying for SKY multi-room I don't know what else to do. The properties share a digital aerial (which I believe isin my loft)

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

p.s. One for all model I bought was the SV 9380

Indoor antennas are pap. Your choice is to run another feed from the roof antenna to the daughters room or get an outdoor antenna if you're allowed to put one up but remember that to meet planning regs it cannot be longer than 60cm.

If its any consolation, digital channels are on low power and will be turned up when your area switches over completely.

You sure your on the Freeview sorce and not the Anagloge source?

Press Source on your TV (might my as Input/AV) and scroll to Freeview.

Then Menu, channels and finally auto-scan.

There is no way they aerial can't pick up anything.

Believe me there is. Where I live it wouldn't even get the analogue signal.

Thanks for all your replies.......might have another play about then to see if I can get anything more before I take the aerial back. It had no advice in the box or instructions or anything and at £59.99 it was a luxury buy for me. How much do you think I'd be charged to run a feed from the loft?

  • It might be worthwhile asking the HA first,if it is communal aerial they might be diff or they may say its ok and their man might do it for less

Most HA are / have been updating their communal for some time. Some are megga big with 3-4000 units so will take some years as the contract is usually with one supplier installing all~over~time.

Bottom line is s/he who shouts loudest is heard first in that situation.

Get as close to 100% of the units in the block / development to sign and ask the HA nicely and very often, on the 100% basis to be considered next~in~line.
