Sainsburys or eSure home insurance?

My current home insurance policy is shortly due to expire and dear old Direct Line have increased my premium by a mere 115% despite another year of no claims. I did phone and they so kindly knocked £150 off but it is still a long way from being competitive.

Best quotes are from Sainsburys and eSure. Anybody got any advice on these pair and if either (or both) should be avoided?

The eSure policy has the benefit of 'free' legal cover and home emergency protection but is the more expensive of the two. I guess my dilema is whether I really want/value these add ons.

Any advice much appreciated.

Not sure how the home insurance is but Esure motor insurance is terrible. Charge a fee for anything and everything.

For example my original premium was £36 in october, since then I have moved house 100 yards and canceled/re started a direct debit. Charges/fees for the above has pushed my monthly premium up to £58.

In there case cheapest is certainly worst and I cant wait to move elswhere, there is no way in a million years i'd be having home insurance with them.

You'll find all insurers do this. A lot of threads on the very same thing recently.
  • esure - stayway they are the pits, many people have had bad experiences with these cowboys.

tbh, I insured through sainsbury's car insurance, (well my wife) who are esure by another name. Are the paperwork is esure, are the claims go to esure, (and we had to make one) no problems at all, and a dealer repair, with no fuss.
I have used esure again for myself.

How an insurance company handles a car insurance and home insurance claim are very different..

Pretty much everything home insurance related is outsourced to loss adjusters whereas (aside from the repairing garage) everything is monitored inhouse with car insurance.

I'd have said nowadays most car claims go out to claim handling companies, and preferred garages.

We've got car and home insurance with esure, and they've actually been really good with our car claim (yes, the garage was slow in repairing the car but that was due to the part coming from abroad being delayed by the bad weather which is hardly their fault)
Never had to claim on home insurance, renewal quote was very good too, would recommend.

Thanks, it's nice to hear positive feedback, generally people seem to leave negative feedback on companies so it's difficult to make a balanced judgement.

Fingers crossed that Toby and Tom have a stormer tonight in Cardiff.
