House number/post code problems

I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how my son can solve a problem with his newly built flat NOT appearing on various data bases when searching for insurance and trying to pay bills.

All of the other flat numbers in the block come up on the "address finder" apart from his one. He has no problem with his post as it is registered with the Post Office, his gas and electric are fine but the water company cannot trace him at all and also the online "search engines" for car insurance etc do not come up with his flat number.

I have thought that it may be the Databases that these particular companies use but don't know what we can do about it as it is causing him major problems!:(
His car insurance is coming up for renewal and so far he has been unable to get a quote online as no one can find him!
Any suggestions would be gratefully received :)

Insurers use the royal mail address information, so needs to take the missing address data up with them.

In regard to Insurances etc, whoever he is dealing with will need to overide their systems to capture the correct address information. So he will be restricted to having to phone companies, until the Royal Mail have corrected their records and companies have added the updated information. This could take quite awhile to happen.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

contact your local delivery office and ask them to check the address is on the Aplus system.
you can request it via the RM site, but a delivery office can amend the data that day (if they have trained staff on that day)
  • Thank you both for your replies...........I have checked the RM website and the flat number is registered on there. Which is a start:jbut probably you are right in saying it just takes a while for companies to update their information............back to using the good old phone for a while then I think!:)

If he is ringing them, check if the price is the same as the online price would be as companies often offer online discounts.

If the postcode and address details are the same and it's just the flat number that is not recognised he should be able to get a price online by inputting a different fat number but obviously can't purchase the policy.

Many companies will honour online quotes over the phone if you explain the difficulties you are having on the website. Generally they are eager to secure your business.
