hmm-have spoken to the bnq electrician fella and he thinks that, as my fuse box isn't blowing there may me some wiring wrong? I want to get a man out but, will he have to do the electrical test thing, for part p? I know last time I wanted to get some-one out they were gonna charge me £40 before even offereing a remedy..RIP Floyd - 19/04/09. I know i'll see you again my best friend forever.

Wiring or transformer - more likely the latter from the symptoms (so possibly the bulbs haven't all gone this time).
It shouldn't be the damp as my downlighter is in the centre of the extractor vent over a power shower. And all the steam howls past it on it's way out - and it doesn't get damper than that. But the transformer is in clear air in the loft. If your's is sitting with one of the lights and hemmed in by insulation - it's probably frying.
Low voltage transformers - between £4.99 and £11.99 depending on total wattage of your bulbs :-

I have 2 fan lights in the kitchen with 3 bulbs on each one, they blow really quickly, bathroom above, could this be the transformer as we thought the same and being damp from the bathroom?£17,164.40 17.01.07

These will not have a transformer these will be connected straight to the mains.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature and avatar. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

thanks.
My new problem is this, my bulbs went out in my bathroom, the previous owner had removed the single pendant fitting and fitted 6 down lighters , three on either side of bathroom. Two bulbs went, at the same time, so we replaced them, then the lot went. So we replaced the lot. Now they've all bloody blown again and repalcement bulbs dont work!! I've resorted to having to use an extension and floor lamp in there 'cos its too dicky dark to do anything else?!!
What can be causing this? My house is old and I've been told before tht the electrics are a mess-by an electrician of course... There's only one fuse in the fusebox for the upstairs lighting and thats not tripped, any advice please.
Much obliged y'all.
Part P is needed(which may be the higher cost and you will feel better about the work and if you move you need it) but my OH like a lot of others is not Part P registered but is working all the time(not a cowboy) as he works for very large firms and belongs to a small firm where someone does the part p thing for him when the check it but he is extremely competant and does it all by the regs etc.All his work is safe and he always has work and never gets complaints & often does private work for kitchen fitters and people like that.He also is very cheap(no £40 call out!) . I suggest that you ring about a bit or ask friends as you may get it cheaper but if you want the part p you will probably have to pay more(which you may need).0
