Cashing in premium bonds question

my premium bonds are in batches of 5k....but if I want to cash in a partial amount of that bond (say 3k from a 5k bond), is that possible?
Or do I have to cash in the whole 5k bond?

You can cash in part by specifying the numbers.

Its no problem - i just cashed in 2.5K of a 5K bond last month. There is a part of the form that covers this, they send you a new bond back. The money comes first within 5days-ish - the new bond followed a couple of wks later. Although thinking about their new system you will get the complete amended record of your holdings now instead.0

You can also specify imediately after the next draw so can send them in in advance and get the money in the first few days of the month.0
