New Tent for holiday - Wynnster Perpignan 8

New Tent for holiday - Wynnster Perpignan 8

Does anyone else have one?

I am looking for anyone that has the same tent as us, and has already used it.

Can you give us any tips for setting it up as the instructions have NO helpful diagrams to give you ideas if its being done right. It's just pages of capital letter text!

Any help would be great. Thank you.

    :(SORRY:(

    posted link to wrong tent.

There are no reviews for you tent, however the rest of my advice stands, ask on UKCS and am sure someone will help.
For waht it's worth I think you need to insert all the poles then stand the back one up, peg it and walk the others forward. Actually I'm rubbish at explaining so best ignore me LOL

  • Have you thought about a footprint/groundseet? We've got a monster tent (Gelert Horizon 6 man) and after walking the poles backwards and forwards for ages last year decided to get one of these. It's basically a groundsheet the exact same shape and size as your tent, and most tents seem to have one these days so I hope yours does. You put the groundsheet down & it's easy to move to where you want the tent to be, then you match the actual tent up to the groundsheet. It's also good if it's been muddy before you have to pack up as you only have the groundsheet to unpack and clean and not the whole tent.

sorry for rambling about it, I resisted it for ages as just another useless thing to buy and pack but I've come round since last year!

Thanks Thrifty. Yes we do have a ground sheet for it. I didn't know about it in particular until our friends told us the benefits of one.
    Thank again.

  • We've got that tent (peregrine 8). It's Ace. And did'nt leak even during 4 days of non stop torrential rain in the Dales last year. Takes abour 30 mins to put up including all the fiddling with guys ( that sounds wrong!!??) and hanging the internal pods. Highly recommended.
  • Sorry just read the OP properly. Steel poles first. Then carbon ones. The tabs should be colour co-ordinated to the poles. Hang pods inside last.

    Thank you!
I have had a quick look at the ends of the poles and as you say there are colours and also springs.

Are there any tricks you've mastered that you can pass on please?

  • Of course I haven't put it up since last summer, but when you stand the main steel arch up, which makes the door, Secure it with a couple of guys to hold it upright while you stand the next arch up. Also when you hang the pods start securing them at the back and work forward. Its obvious but it's a mistake we made first time. Again the hooks on the pods should be colour matched to their clips.

The best tip I can give is to take into the garden or down the park and have a practice. Its not hard to pitch, in fact I did it by myself all last year as husband had a knackered arm, but I think a practice with any new tent is invaluable.

    Happy camping!
