    Thanks for the explanation. However, I still think that there's no reason for her to be between one home and another, even if the family give her some money or she takes out a loan. It's really just the same as any other person moving home.


    either i'm missing the point or you are! if she doesn't have enough money after selling her house and cant get a mortgage for the rest of the capital for a house, how can she buy it if she aint got the money ? and we have no savings, £40-£50k isn't a lot of money when it comes to buying a house

    Either I am confused, or you are! You asked for advice about buying a house for your mum, with family contributing financially if necessary....
