Son dropped hen!!!

We got some hens for the first time on Monday evening. They seemed really happy and all 3 have laid every day since.

This morning my 9 year old son went to let them out of the coop for a wander and despite being told in the past not to lift them, he picked up Louisa from the nesting box to put her on the floor.
She wasn't happy and flapped in his face which shocked him and he dropped her.

She walked away fine and took herself back to the nesting box and hasn't moved since. She has eaten food that I've given to her, but been in the same position for the past 2 hours.

Is she ok?
My son is really upset and has even asked that i phone the school to let him know when Louisa comes out.
Are hens robust creatures? Has she just got a strop on?

Please advise.
Jo xx

One of my chickens is a bit sensitive, when we first got her it took quite a while for her to settle in, when a fox got in our garden the other 3 recovered very quickly but she was unhappy for some time. Just recently the end of the run came off on a really windy day and it scared her to death. She just sat quietly for a few days.

She always bounces back though :) Perhaps you just have a sensitive chicken too, I am sure she will soon be back to normal but I would keep an eye on her. My other half always wraps Emily in a towel and brings her in for a cuddle for a little while, she loves it :rotfl:.
