Not enough for a 2 year tie-up IMO.

Close a couple of years ago were offering best rates - think they're down with the pack now.

Mmm I agree really- but ya gotta put the maturing bonds somewhere- and the 1 year fixes are not much different to the instant access accounts, so I'm seriously considering this one for my maturing Stroud & Swindon - who have offered me 3.5% for 2 and a bit years

Don't want to do more than 2 years in the current climate.

Hmmm ... not tempting enough especially since Close Brothers were really competitive last year. If it was 4.01% for two years then I definitely would go for it but unfortunately it's just a mild "Meh" from me. Right now my First Save is maturing next week and they're offering 3.25% for one year. If nothing better comes along in the next few days I'll just go with that instead.

  • GCH888 -if you qualify for Santander's loyalty tracker bond they are offering base plus 2.65% (so 3.15% now) for a year - i've gone for it with the proceeds of a maturing Santander bond (having previously sworn to avoid them like the plague!). But i figure a one-year term product means they only have two opportunities for an admin c***-up ... the first of which could well happen when the original product matures in a week's time! The base rate linked product swayed me - it's paying a competitve one-year rate now, with the potential for upside if base rate moves up ....

I hope i don't end up regreting my decision - but if i do it will be down to their admin i think!
