Glasses voucher

Hi all just after a bit of advice re glasses vouchers.
OH recently had an eye test and got 2 pairs of glasses from specsavers and was given £30-something off because he is currently in receipt of ESA. My question is when will he be able to get another pair using a voucher? Is it a yearly thing or are you only entitled to one per prescription.
Many thanks.

Every 2 years unless there is a "significant clinical change" in the prescription or the glasses become unservicable through fair wear and tear (though the health board assume that every pair of glasses will last 2 years with good care - which they should).
If your husbands loses or breaks his glasses for reasons related to illness or disability he can apply for a discretionary voucher from the local PCT but these vouchers can take ages to process and are not a dead cert. You need an optician to verify that your glasses are unservicable and usually get asked to produce medical evidence that your condition would lead you to need new glasses (usually severe learning difficulties, in a car crash or suffers seizures).0
