Wouldn't have thought he'd get into trouble for helping his mum.

If this is the only thing you can thing of, I wouldn't worry.
Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
  • Theres no way that laying a carpet for his mother would result in your husband being accused of benefit fraud , thats just ridiculous !

What a spiteful "friend" (I use the word "friend" loosely) she must be !

Good luck , let us know how you get on .

You or he can earn £20 weekly without anything changing.

It's more likely she has mentioned your entitlement to DLA

But if he get's CA he can earn £100 per week without it affecting his CA ;)

Seriously I wouldn't worry about it.

That's right but £100 would have a big affect on any IS or ESA.

OP If that is the only thing you can think of then I'm pretty sure you'll be okay. If someone (your friend) has reported you I expect it would be an accusation regarding your DLA claim.

If I were you I would make sure I had evidence of any illness/disability before seeing anyone about this.

As the previous poster said, who is it which is suspected of benefit fraud? If the letter came to you then I suspect that it is you they're investigating not your husband.

In terms of the carpet laying, if you were the one who lay it then there could be a problem as presumably you're getting middle/high rate care or mobillity? But your husband can do what he wants providing he's caring for you 35+ hrs and not earning more than £100 a week after allowable expenses.

It's really best not to speculate until you've spoken to the JCP. Don't worry about it, if you've kept them up to date with any changes with your care/mobility needs and your husband hasn't earned over £100 a week then you've got nothing to worry about. The Fraud team occassionally do random checks so it's not even necessarily the case someone has reported you for something.
