Seems like we used 711 units this winter compared to 499 last winter for the same period. (oct - jan quarter)

Admittedly this year we didn't adjust the thermostat. We just left it on 18C 24/7. Last year we did turn it down to about 16 or 17 when we went to bed etc.

But reckon that made minimal difference, it was probably due to constant cold temps that increased our consumption.

How has your consumption been?

Ive used a lot less this gas year than last.
Main reason is probably due to increasing the loft insulation to 300mm.
What dates have you included in the winter period ?

Used 8% less gas than last year in that same period. Probably down to it not being as cold overall, yes there were a couple of weeks of extreme lows but overall the daily temps have been higher here. Must get that extra loft insulation installed this spring, got one very warm patch at the moment with a big pile of rolls on it. :o

On my bill it says i used 30% less gas and 13% less electric compaired to the same period last year.
I must say im quite impressed with this.
I leave the heating on @ 20oC during the night and @ 22oC during the day 24/7

I was surprised (almost pleasently) with the Gas Bill Oct - Jan 201 units used, (£218 inc vat). We are retired and are home alot...(particularly in Dec/Jan) so the heating was on continuously, have put double the suggested amount of insulation in the loft (B&Q was flogging Space Blanket rolls 2for1 so I went over the top with it) and I think this has definately helped this winter....plus a new combi boiler too...only problem with that was the drain pipe froze up a few times.....thats another story on another thread!
  • Our gas bill came in at 146.00 it was estimated....so I read the meter and phoned them (thinking they had over estimated!!! Boy was I wrong!
A new bill came today for 322!!
Haven't told OH - he was going ballistic at the first one.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
