Looking at buying a 360 in the sales, but wondering if I can run this through the monitor, or is it going to take a cable convertor to do it?

Yeh you can run it through your monitor using a VGA cable into a DSUB port. This doesn't come as standard with the Premium or Core packages but Microsoft have released an official VGA cable. There are third party cables available as well.
Obviously the higher the resolution of the monitor the nicer it will lookI have a 17" 1280x1024 which looks nice with the 360 running through, but is much much better on a real HD tv.
Hope this helps.0 -

HDTV screen sizes are generally a lot larger in size than the average monitor that a user would own. How many people sit infront of a computer with a 32" monitor whatever the resolution? My personal opinion is that it looks far better on a big TV
I also believe MS are releasing a software update to support 1080p TV sets through VGA only, running resolutions of 1920x1080 which is much higher than the average resolution of a users monitor anyway.
So thats why I prefer TVs0 -

But technically a PC screen will reach a far higher resolution than any HD-TV.
Furthermore, the cost of some large HD-TV's are quite high. e.g. the 26" Samsung is £700-800. Better to pick up a 24" Dell for £5xx instead if you see what I mean and add speakers and a standalone TV tuner.0
