basic question , but no known answer

can barclays repay an old current account balance , with a PPI REFUND?

if i won my ppi from BARCLAYS , are they allowed to pay this to my old CURRENT ACCOUNT which still has an outstanding BALANCE and is CLOSED? i bank with lloyds tsb now

any help would be great

No I don't think it works like that, but I have never banked with Barclays, the ppi is nothing to do with that of the bank account, so as long as there are no arrears on the loan accounts, the money should be awarded directly to you.:)

iv just read that banks can 'offset' debts from one account to another , but its different for ppi because you can reclaim the money directly back what you paid into it

the only thing the bank can offset is the ppi premiem and the interest

still confused and barclays customer relations were useless

i settled a loan early with lloyds in 2006 they gave me a £400 discount for settling early i was sucessful in reclaiming the ppi i had on the loan last month they gave me the interest via my new bank account with barclays and after deducting the £4oo out of the rest for the early settlement they then sent me a cheque the lloyds account in question had been closed in 2007 so i wouldnt get your hopes up as they told me they got to give the interest but they are allowed to take any money you owe them out of the rest
