in Credit cards
Dear all
I need some advice;
I am fedup of applying and not getting credit cards...
My circumstances are;
i earn £19000/year
i have mortgage £683 a month (1 year & no late payments at all)
bought sofas on buy now pay later (£80/month)
mobile phone (£35 /month)
credit card (outstanding balance £1800) no late payment at all
I am on electorall register
my partner is working (£4000 / year)
mobile contract (£30/year)
buy now paylater items (£100 a month (5months remaining- payments on time)
i have applied for tesco, capital one, GE money credit cards and mentioned i want to move my balance from barclays and all of them have declined...
I had a defaulted entry on my credit report by carphonewarehouse,.. but it was CPW fault (i rang and told im moving house and also want to close account, paid all remaining balance... but they defauled my balance for £26 and kept sending letters to old address.. after reporting to equifax entry was taken off as i had proof -- fax sent to cpw asking to close account and charge my account)& they took it off... (4 weeks ago) i applied for credit cards after that...
Please someone tell me why im unable to get credit...
thanks

Have you checked if the default is registered with experian or callcredit as well?
Also Repeated searches in a short space of time pull your credit score down, so as you apply for each one, it is more likely the next one will decline you. Also have you had any other searches in the last 6 months apart from your card applications.
It is also possible to appeal to the lender against their credit scoring decision, I wouldn't have thought doing that would have a high success rate but you can always give it a go.0 -
Repaeated searches will damage your credit score so i'd hold off for a bit now. Let the dust settle for a bit then reapply in a few months for a card.
I wouldn't worry about not getting the GE Money card as they appear to have a very strict citeria.0 -
thanks guys... i thought that defaults matches all three companies (experian equifax & call credit) thats what i was told by experian... but i will check anyway...
I did appealed to GE Money but they said their decision is final...
capital one told me to apply for secured loan... which i dont want to, as my apr is 12% now and they are offering 9%...
thanks for your help...0
