It doesn't make any difference, the dealer agreed to sell him the car at a price stated on the order. It is the dealers problem if they later decide thsat they shoud have sold it a higher price.I thought they said the proper price of the car he bought should have been £3000 more.

Perhaps the OP can let you know the make, date of registration, model and variant of the vehicle he bought, so that he can prove to you that he hasn't set out to rip them off.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
You can guess what the dealers reaction would be if the boot was on the other foot. Do you think they would complain if they had paid £3000 for the car, but then the seller said, hold on I want another £2k I made a mistake?
At the end of the day as I said before I honestly cannot see how you could lose in the county court. this should be an open and shut case without the need for you to instruct a solicitor to deal with the case.
They made an invitation to buy, you accepted that invertation and signed a contract (which I assume is also signed by them), they then had 8 days to review that contract before you picked up the car. I would say this was ample opportunity to review the sale and correct any errors, i.e. contact the buyer, explain the situation, and if the buyer wasn't happy agree to cancel the contract.
Imagine going to Asda, taking an item to the till, paying for the item and walking out with the receipt (proof of purchese), and then the store manager running after you asking for another £50. It simply wouldn't happen.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Hello, the garage quoted me on the telephone £18000 for the car i enquired about and bought ,which other garages have on sale for between this price and around £21000 for the same model,mileage etc. the garage also offered £25000 for mine which leaves the balance of £7000 owed to me,they put autoglym on the car which cost £300 leaving £6700,its all written down on the agreement,i also meant to say what they told me the initial reason for the "error" was -the salesman made a serious error which was a "mystery" to them ,they then changed this 3 days later to me telling the salesman the deal when the sales manager had told me the "real cost" the night before on the telephone,
so what they are saying is i have told the salesman what to put down on the agreement form-this is an experienced salesman who has worked at this garage for years and who also worked at another well known garage for years previous to this-i have all this in email correspondence from them,
i contacted their managing director their top man and he is obviously backing his sales manager but what is surprising is that the sales manager and md have both the same surname,not an unusual surname but also not one that is common either,it will probably be his brother.I have a friend who works as a sales manager with a large well known dealership in scotland and he has never seen this before,he has seen deals being reneged on when a trade in value has been given and the customer brings the car in and it is in terrible condition and needing a lot of work to put right,but this is entirely different.0 -
Just a little sidenote ,this dealership sometimes overprice their cars an example being a Q5 ,two of them in fact where they have them on sale right now for £43995 with 3-4000 miles on them, when you can buy a brand new one for £36000!! probably demand maybe.
I,ll probably know tomorrow if they have replied to my solicitors letter-i doubt it though ,i think they are trying to bluff me,but that bloody solicitors letter cost me £350,i,m not exactly sure how many letters /calls that covers -but i want to try other avenues first as going legal is very expensive-money upfront etc-but this group cannot be allowed to get away with this,the sales manager and salesman both know the truth,and they are telling barefaced lies,that is very annoying,also if there were an error they should have told me within a day or so and it could have been sorted out0
