Santander discriminates against Cahoot customers

I set up a payment instruction today to a cahoot account holder. The automated sort code system for earlier payments had previously come up with Cahoot as the bank. Today it came up as Santander.

So, maybe a winding down or slow merge is in process.

Santander apparently has several such 'orphan' brands acquired over the last few years' buying in different countries; last I read, a few months ago, was that Santander was planning to rebrand all of them under one name (probably Openbank, which it uses in Spain).

Well, I had a reply from one of Steve Williams' minions at Santander, basically saying "Yes, you're right, we can own or disown Cahoot customers depending on what suits us best - basically we can do what the hell we like, so scr*w you". What a delightful way to treat a loyal customer of many years' standing.

My application for a First Direct current account is progressing through the system ... ;-)
