I was searching for a item on ebay and i found one seller that was selling the item more than it would cost in the shops, so i looked at his other items and he had a hub nut for a car and he wants £20 buy it now or you could make a offer, aslo the postage is £12.

I've listed stuff that has been sold for a price higher than is available in the shops.
In fact, I think at times I may have bought stuff on ebay that I knew was cheaper in the shops as I knew it was more convenient to get it sent to my house than to go into town!As of 24/11/2020
Mort: - £98,200
CCds: - £1,568.18
Loan: - £0
Savings: - £3,500.000 -
But £12 for p+p when that covers the cost of the item and p+p.0

That looks like one of those: "You are bidding on a box" type listings of which there were a spate a few years ago.
He's got three photo's of the car (albeit without wheels!) but it does clearly state the auction is for a nut.
My guess is that he's hoping someone will see it, think they could get a bargain (i.e. the car) and bid on it and then be to embarrassed to admit they've been conned and just pay up.
Hard to believe that anyone could possibly fall for that but when you see the things for which people do fall ...
Edit: On the other hand, he does seem to have a lot of decent feedback. Quite puzzling, really. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
This is a car breaker (and there are loads of them who do it) who is using the mainstream sales listings to advertise his products rather than using the classifieds. The object of the exercise isn't to sell you a very expensive wheel nut (unless you want to buy it at that price of course) but to get you to ring them to buy the part you DO want so that he can put it on a BIN or to look in his ebay shop.
I don't think it breaks any of ebay's rules because there is an item available and not just an intangible 'come to my shop' message. The reason is I guess because there are loads of people looking through the auctions and BIN's but only a few people bother with the classifieds.0 -

It never ceases to amaze me how perfectly sensible seeming sellers can still put that into the auctions and keep a straight face. Do you suppose they are just trying it on, or do they actually believe it?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just wants you to phone and buy the stuff off ebay to save fees. One of those that you would be wasting your time
reporting as they do sell some items on ebay and give them some money.
Feedback too high for ebay to ban them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
