HB&CT suspended for review.

Had a letter on Friday from HB/CT to say they received info my youngest was no longer getting child benefit.
The letter goes on to ask for details of what she is doing since leaving education etc and to send in proof of her earnings etc, all standard stuff.
I rang up on Monday to ask why they want proof of her earnings as my wife gets the higher care component of DLA so the "no non dependant" deductions dont apply.
The man on the phone agreed that i was correct but suggested we still send them all the info in case things change in the future.
I told him that my daughter did not want to disclose her earnings to me or anyone else especially as there is no need to.
Today another letter arrives also dated the same day as the original letter to say Benefit has been suspended untill they complete their review.
Is this going to be a straight forward review or does anyone think the fact they have asked for daughters wages which we will not supply it may scupper the claim in any way.
They havent asked for an update on my sons wages or anything.
TIA

it looks like they are asking for all the evidence before they go into the detail of the claim.
if the only thing holding the claim up is your daughters pay slip, then why not just provide it? surely if you daughter realised that the lack of the wage slip means they won't look into further details ) the DLA) she will be happy to send it.0 -
Your in receipt of financial help by means of Housing Benefit.
If they have asked for further information, get over it, and deal with it.
If your daughter's wage slips get it sorted, then there's no point being precious about what her earnings are, and she can take them direct.
I've just had my single person discount cancelled for the past 4 years, as CT has decided that the proof HB had about full time education for my son was not sufficient, regardless of being in receipt of child benefit.
But, there's no point complaining, I just have to get it sorted.

Thanks,
I hear what your saying but they have evidence of the DLA award which means the info is not relevant to the claim.
She is NOT happy to provide the info and tbh i agree with her.
Im not trying to be difficult but forcing her to disclose personal information when its completely unnecessary is not going to help anyone.
They seem quite happy for my son to keep his earnings private.0 -

Thanks for your input and lack of help.
I think proving your son being in education is a bit different to asking a 19yr old to give up private info when not needed.
HB/CT have ALL the info they need to calculate the claim based on facts. wage slips are of NO use to them.0 -
If you no longer require the financial assistance then don't give them the information they are asking for.
Same for everyone who asks the state for financial help, afraid you have to jump through the required hoops.0 -

NO you dont have to jump through any hoops.
Just meet the qualifying conditions.
Middle or high rate care component of DLA means non dependents income is NOT counted when working out entitlement.
At the end of the day they can (and have) suspended the claim but they will only end up having to reinstate and backdate the claim.0 -
Sometimes it's worth doing something we don't like just for an easy life. It's someone else's fault.0

Well that's fine if you are happy with the hassle.0 -
because your wife receives DLA, you daughter doen'st have to contribute towards rent, only her keep!
i wonder how many working young people would loive to be in her position?
tell her to wind her neck in and trot to the council office with her wage slip like a good daughter ( whose parents are being hassled over a bit of paper) would!0 -

Yes she is very lucky like her brother as they both have 9-5 mon-fri jobs and do not have to pay rent.
Good luck to them.
Im very proud that both of them have permanent full time jobs and wont have to rely on benefits like a lot of other people do through choice.
However they are also Unlucky having to have helped their mum most of their adult lifes due to her problems.
As for her "winding her neck in" Its not her problem is it?
CB/CT have no reason or right to ask for the info and i will stick to MY guns and not supply it.
At the end of the day My entitlement is 100% watertight and i couldnt care less if it drags on for months. Ill just get my housing officer on the case and pull the "disabled card"
It will no doubt cost the taxpayer more money in the long run as time and resources are wasted not to mention the countless letters they will send out.
As far as i see it its simple.
We have have No non dependant deductions applied because of the DLA end of story.
They can play me about all they like, im not bothered in the slightest.0
