Hi,
I am moving house and want to get a new flatscreen TV (to replace my massive heavy old TV).
I've read the article on the cheap fullHD being nearly the same price as HD ready so I'll probably go for the fullHD.
My query comes in as most of these TVs no seem to have built-in freeview. I have a Humax freeview PVR and love the fact that I can record programmes and series. If I get one of these new TVs with built in Freeview can i still use my trusty Humax to record stuff on freeview channels (not HD)?
My Humax isn't a Freeview HD one but I guess I'd be able to watch the HD channels on the telly (fullHD) but not record them?
Is that right? Any advice or explanations welcome (I'm not very technically minded)

As all the transmissions will be digital soon all TV's come with built in freeview these days and if you buy one with full HD then you can watch any HD transmissions on it, you will still be able to use your Humax to record as it has its own built in digital tuner though not HD.0

You will be able to continue to use your Freeview Humax as before, it has its own internal tuner independent of your TV.
By all means buy a Full HD television, you should be aware though unless it has a Freeview HD tuner you won't get an HD picture.
You can check if your area can receive the 4 Freeview HD cannels on the website. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

This is not entirely correct, Full HD refers to screen resolution i.e. 1080p
To receive and view HD programmes the set needs a Freeview or Freesat HD tuner, or an external HD source, Sky/Virgin/Freeview/Freesat HD box. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Little point in paying more for Full HD over HD Ready unless you are buying larger than a 32 inch screen. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
