Medieval Themed Village Fete

Options
Does anybody have any ideas for a medieval themed fete? Eg; stalls/games, the procession, a main event, craft area, etc?
Thank you for your time!!

What a fantastic idea! :D. Have found the following links for you...may be of some use, I don't know...

I studied medieval history at uni, but my focus was on a slightly different area (predominantly law and death...very cheery. lol).

If I were you, I'd see if there are any local groups that specialise in medieval reconstructions/crafts. Also try and get some literature on medieval society - probably something aimed at kids as it'll be quick and simple to skim through, and see if it mentions anything about medieval games/customs, etc, that could be incorporated into the fete.

I do a British themed fete every year for my charity, I guess that has some things you could say are medieval in it (in a way)... homemade lemonade, ginger beer, etc. Do a raffle/tombola with books, funny hats, plastic sheilds, toys, DVDs etc.

Research medieval food and see what you can do regards to that, food always goes down well :D

Depending on what exact sort of fete you have you may have to stray a little from the medieval theme, if it's a village fete you need to have cakes, teas and coffees etc because otherwise people will start getting bored.
Also see if you can get an inflatables company to come - I manage to get one to come for free (they get the profits they make, and give me 20%) - parents can give the kids a fiver and send them off, and then they spend more time browsing. I dunno what sort of inflatables you can get but I imagine all sorts, we had a gladiator one or something like that! I'm sure you can get a jousting one?
