Fringes Rugs AVOID!!

Hi all
I have had an awful experience dealing with Fringes Rugs. Over the last month I have had dreadful customer service from so many companies, I have decided that from now on, I am going to do something about it. If this post costs them even only one sale, I will be extremely happy
I found a rug I liked on 1st Jan, and phoned round a few stores to see who had it in stock. Fringes was the cheapest by a few pounds, and assured me they had it in stock and it would be dispatched within 2 days. Payment was taken from my credit card immediately.
By the 7th Jan, still no rug. I phoned up, only to be told it would be dispatched by the end of the month.
I called up on the 30th Jan, only to be told that it would now not be in stock until April! I was very angry at this point, as they had lied to me several times about the rug being in stock. I told the person that I spoke to that I wanted an immediate refund, and would like a call from a manager to discuss my complaint and any possible compensation.
I phoned around several other stores now, and the rug is out of stock everywhere.
I had a call today from a manager at Fringes Rugs. Rather than apologise for the extremely poor service and repeated lies, she quoted the distance selling act and told me they had done nothing wrong. She told me I would be "laughed at" if I followed this up with trading standards (the fact they had lied about stock to get my money).
Well, I hope this serves as a warning to people to not buy from this company. If there is anyone that is considering buying, then changes their mind after reading this, I would really appreciate a post or a PM to say so. If it costs them sales, maybe they will improve their service. We consumers should not put up with this

Hiya, I certainly can't condone bad customer treatment like this, but if it happens to you a lot as you suggest, it may be worth changing tactics slightly when shopping online.Over the last month I have had dreadful customer service from so many companies...and phoned round a few stores to see who had it in stock. Fringes was the cheapest by a few pounds
Whilst good service is not guaranteed at a higher price, nor low price a guarantee of poor service, there may be some correlation between going for the cheapest possible at all costs, and getting a correspondingly lower level of service from companies trade on volume not satisfaction?0 -
Its a fair point, but I dont agree with it entirely. I always try and find the cheapest place to buy an item when im buying it online. I also always search to find any reviews/feedback for any companies I buy from, and wont buy from anywhere with a lot of negative feedback, or where I have had poor service in the past. Strangely, there was not many for any of the rug companies I was looking at.0
