Unfortunately, I have to call the 0845 600 5264 number as this is the only number that will now deal with my claim, if I call any other number I am only told that the computer screen states...'inform (me) to call 0845 600 5264...'
It is because it is a finalised claim where I called through my actual income figures and I just have to wait until dealt with. However, this was meant to be done within 14 days, it is now 24 days and counting.
This number is only open from 9am to 4pm, it is impossible to get through no matter what day or time I try.
If this is the case I would still call one of the numbers I listed on my previous post and when they say you need to call 0845..... I would explain that you have tried however many times and now want to speak to a Manager within their office as you are obviously wasting your time calling the other number. I would refuse to go away quietly(obviously be assertive not aggressive) which is what they expect you to do, and make a stand on this. When you do eventually get to speak to a Manager/ Supervisor I would tell them that you want them as a Manager to take control of this problem and to speak to the other number/ department on your behalf. Make sure you get the managers name and their direct contact number. Do not let them fob you off saying they can't help you. No matter what dept they work in and no matter what dept is dealing with your claim, they still represent Tax Credits and therefore should take ownership of your complaint and get it sorted out for you. Good luck...you're more than likely going to need it with these people.0 -
I am having a similar issue. Although you can get through to 08453003900 quite easily, they are no use when you have a chilcare claim. You are told in no uncertain terms that you have to call 08456005264 as they are the only department that can help you and give you any information.
I was advised that it would take up to 14 days to process and to call this number for an update. It is now 25 days later and I still have not got through once. They connect the line to an automated voice to tell you that they're busy and then it cuts you off. You get charged for the call but no further forward!
I may have to take my children out of nursery soon due to this because my childcare provider has waited over 3 weeks for a payment now and is starting to get annoyed.
It makes us parents look bad and appear financially unreliable.
It is a an absolute joke. Has anybody been through similar so far this year and actually now received their payments? If so how long did it take?0 -

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one. I have been trying for 5 weeks now on this number and can never get through and was also told that it would take 2 weeks to sort the claim after the final figure was given!0 -

Yes, into my 5th week now too.
I've just given up, what's the point? Fortunately, I can get by.
But it's scandlous, an outrage.0 -
I rang the usual number today and the chap I spoke to said he would put a note on my records to say that I had been trying to contact them, what good that will do I don't know but I told him I wasn't happy.0

I did manage to get through to an answer phone last week on the 0845 number and clearly left my details, including landline and mobile, and they haven't even bothered to take a few seconds out to call.
It's a disgusting state of affairs.0 -
Hello,
After calling on the 24th Jan 11, and getting through to the 0845 600 5264 to inform them that my actual income from self employment was 50% less than the estimate they had on their records, I was told that the new figures would go through.
When the final decision letter arrived on 11th Feb it was obvious that my call on the 24th Jan had been completely ignored! The letter even told me that they had not received details of actual figures and that I would have to write in with an appeal. The letter did say that I can also call for a decision before writing, and as they failed to record my new figures I decided to do this.
This failure to record details that I or my wife call in with is an annual occurrance!
I have since tried many time called 0845 600 5264 only to be reminded of the opening times and then be cut off. This morning I called at 08:28:30 and got a message saying they were closed. I called again at 08:29:30 and got the message saying they were too busy!
If I had failed to do my bit and hadn't called them on the 24th I would have to accept that I should have acted. It make me angry to think however that I did what I was asked and my information appears to have been ignored. I suppose the only option open to me is to write in with the details.

After over a week of trying to get through to the 08456005264 someone finally answered at 9.30 this morning after two rings!! So there are people there:o. I called the normal tax credit office on the 29th Jan with final income figures & was told to call the above number if I hadnt heard anything after two weeks which I have been trying to do for the last week. The woman I spoke to today told me that they are dealing with claims up to the 26th Jan as they have a backlog & that the 29th should be dealt with next week. She also said should there be any queries with claims that they contact you by phone first rather than writing.0

I called to report a new baby on the 16th at 7.40pm and got through first time with about six minutes on hold.
I have never had a problem getting through but it seems I must just be lucky:j0 -
I have been back to work now since jan 10th and was promised that I would get help with the cost of nursery (£196) per week It has now been two months and I have heard nothing and had no help. As this job was so hard to find and I am enjoying it so much with the NHS I have borrowed money to pay for the nursery I am now in £1800 debt and still no contact from tax credits. I have been told to ring this number 0845 600 5264 and do so up to 80 times a day, in the 8 weeks that I have been doing this I have NEVER EVER spoke to a human! its an automated service which then hangs up on you, obviously charging you each time you call. I have spent a fortune.
When I call the other tax credits helpline they refuse to discuss my claim with me and say I must ring the other number and there is no other number for this team?!!
I am at my wits end and now think I may have to leave my much loved job as I cannot expect the nursery to give me preferential treatment over others - they need to be paid.
I just dont know what to do0
