PS - how much of a bad idea does anyone think it would be to buy a 'designer' bag from china??

I take it it's not from one of our spammer friends, Tixy?:D

If not, I've got a "YSL" wallet and handbag that my brother bought me in Dubai a few years ago (they were a present, I'm not really into designer stuff, tbh) and they're not that bad quality, but I have seen copies that are really tacky and badly made. It's a bit of a lottery really. If it's a classic, fairly simple bag then it would probably be more successful than a more ornate one.

I got a lovely Tu£a bag from an outlet shop on the Cl@rks centre (can't think of its name at the moment), it was under a third of the price. The advantage to that is you can inspect them.

    Hope that helps:D

Not this time Spoon - its on ebay. Same make bags in UK are around £80, its not that is designer that I'm interested in, I like the design. Can buy from ebay for china/hong kong for less than £20 for the "same" bags.

I expect the UK sold bags are made in China as well. Don't know whether its worth trying. It might be a cheap copy or I guess it could be a copy but actually made in the same factory after hours (I've think this is what some places do). If the latter is the case I'm not sure if I'm happy with it as a concept, is it okay because its still some money going to the workers and cutting out the middleman making the brand profit, or is it bad as it could just be a local exploiting people (children?) and they actually get paid almost nothing and plus I then always wonder with fakes (if thats what it is) whether its actually funding the big world of drugs/trafficking etc etc.
So its partly a dilemma cos I don't know what I'll end up with, decent or carp and also a moral dilemma. I could be over-thinking this of course!!

My bag is like that boult - so full & heavy I thought I'd start a new one!! No not qute (though I do that with wallets, just leave one full and start again -not full of cash though, just receipts and rubbish) but I'd like a smaller summer bag that is lighter to carry around.

I'm not sure any of us would buy much nowadays if we thought about it too much, Tixy. There is a lot of exploitation in this world, and not just confined to so-called Third World countries unfortunately.

The days of being 100% certain of where things are made and knowing that the workers were treated fairly are gone, I'm afraid, except in the case of a few companies/markets. The world has changed a lot in the past 50 years and not always for the good:(

And on that happy note, I shall bid you all goodnight.

Thorsday tomorrow, feel free to wield those axes and tackle any tasks with vim and vigour:D

Would an Anti mugging spray not be lighter and easier to carry.

A long time ago Pania wrote the message below to Newcomers or anyone who comes across a troll on the forum.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

    What is a Troll?
A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, asking for help and advice, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch – ooops, modesty!

What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants. So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you’ll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue “Report” icon, as shown below:
    report.gif
Click the icon and then "send" the message which will inform the MSE team of the post, who will then review its content and deal with it as appropriate; sometimes even deleting the troll by making their status PPR’d (Posting Privileges Removed). Remember, this site is an asset to so many people, especially those that feels like their world is falling in around them. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here all willing to help, whatever you do, do not let the comments of one silly individual deter you from availing yourself of the knowledge base that is on offer here.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM

It is testament to the work that Martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time, knowledge and experience freely to others; without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of their debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT
