Problem with flash drive in car stereo !

I have just bought a new Alpine car stereo with a usb 'in' - I bought a new flash drive, loaded it up with music but it simply won't work with 'Unit Error' coming up. Yet this drive works faultlessly with my pc !
I put in my old flash drive and it finds the music in seconds - any idea what I am doing wrong ? I have formatted the new drive but other than that I have no idea !

Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

A few things you could check:
- What capacity it the flash drive - doubtful, but there could be a limit on the Alpine.
- Is the flash drive a U3 drive, as the additional partitions may cause problems.
- Is there anything else on the drive, other than folders and music, that may upset the Alpine.
- Check the format of the flash drive, is it still FAT or FAT32. If it's NTFS, then that could cause problems.0 -

1. 4gb - looked in the manual but cannot see any limit
2. U3 drive ? Really don't know !
3. Nothing other than music
4. Format is FAT32
Currently the drive has 1 folder on it which is an album with 13 tracks !!Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -
Check the old drive what format is it ? make sure the new one is the same.
After checking the format delete the folder you have put on and copy the entire contents of old drive to new and try it.0 -
i have an sd car that is a bit fussy like this
works in my fuji camera and pc and laptop
but wont work in my other fuji camera or printer0 -
I would try the following:
Try reformatting the usb and starting again.
Try putting the music files back on, not in a folder.
Or they may even have to be in a certain folder in order to be accessible, such as MUSIC folder etc.0 -
