Thank you for the posters who have enabled me to see everything in a more positive light. Of course it is in my best interests to have the income from salary rather than tax credits.

The amount of the pay rise is an issue. The new job has significantly more responsibilities and I felt the pay award would reflect this. It doesn't. Other "valuable members of the team" of which I am now a part, are getting double my pay. I had hoped that I would move up a few more rungs. I guess that is my real issue, and not the tax credit one.

And these other members of the team are doing exactly the same work as you going to be doing?

And how long have these people been doing the job for?

You are trying to compare apples and oranges.

What you get paid is not just about what you do but how long and how good you are at doing it.

    Yours
