Fellow consumers,
Please may I draw your attention to the webshop known as 'Bedworld.net', and please pay attention to this hard-learned lesson, should you decide to use them:
My last bed, from Tesco Direct, was of particularly poor quality and subsequently broke (not in the way that many of you will suspect!), and so I achieved my refund from them under warranty and decided to get a cheap alternative from the internet. I chose cost as my primary driver because I am in the Armed Forces, I move around a lot and most beds, once built, are nailed together and cannot be deconstructed (therefore are either left behind or ruined in an attempt to prise out the nails!).
Bedworld.net seemed to offer a next-day service, which was great as I was ordering on 6 Dec 10, and going to Afghanistan on 10 Dec 10, so this was well within the time to get the thing constructed, pack my bags and go out there.
However, they failed to deliver for 3 days straight, and so on the third day I cancelled my order in the morning, borrowed a van and went to 'Heli-Beds' in Swindon (who were able to sell me a bed that day, and one which can also be taken everywhere with me!). As you might expect, the Bedworld bed then arrived despite my cancelling it, and off I went to Afghanistan.
From there, I was able to organise my life in such a manner as Bedworld clearly cannot, such that I was able to call them and ask if they would go to my base and retrieve the bed (I cannot get a refund without this happening, obviously). They assured me after multiple phonecalls and e-mails that they would do this for me, but on returning after 6 weeks abroad, I find that the bed is STILL here.
I called last Friday as was assured they would pick it up yesterday, but this has not happened. Today they said it would be on the list to pick up today, but again this has not happened. They are totally incompetent, they never call back when they say they will and they clearly can't organise a pick-up without blaming it on the delivery company.
Is there anything I can do to use my consumer rights to get my money back? I really don't care if they don't want their bed back, but I want my money back for their initial inability to honour their 'next-day' delivery. I would also like to figure out how I can receive the cost of calling their 0845 number back, as I am doing all the chasing?
Does anybody know if I can force their hand legally?
