Hi folks,
I am filling out my application form for tax credits, my other half does not live with me or contribute to my house costs as he has his own place. The staff at JCP have filled in the first page for me and have put him on it - i dont know his earnings etc and i didnt think his income would have an effect on my claim?
Apologies in advance but i have never claimed before and i am unsure of the system
thanks:)

He's your childs' father, your business partner, your fiance and this post states you were moving in together not that long ago.

Did you ask them why they put his details on the form?
You can ring the tax credits helpline and talk to them and they can advise you on your situation.
Tax credit applications are being checked with a fine tooth comb nowadays, they check everything first before they put it into payment so if you do live together it really isnt worth not putting him on the form.
Of course if you dont live together and are finacially seperate then he shouldnt be on the form and the helpline will confirm this for you.0 -
As with everything in life can my circumstances not change?!?!
For your information although i don't see why i have to divulge this personal information to yourself - the business has gone, if you have children yourself im sure you can appreciate that it can be a big strain on any relationship regardless of how close you may seem.
I have had to move home with my 11 week old daughter and yes as my previous post suggests iv already moved home fairly recently.
I am not trying to cheat the system - if so do you not think i would have claimed before??
So your not a cleverclogs after all you just have no filter between what your thinking and what your typing.
Thanks for your help though at this difficult time for me.
thanks Dan, she asked if i was single, which i am not but when she got down to his address i think she assumed he did live with me but i gave his address.:j Mummy to little Poppy June :j0 -

Have you sent the form off already? if not get another form, if you dont live together and your financially seperate you are not classed as a couple for tax credit purposes so im not sure why the JCP put him on the form but ring the tax credits helpline and they'll tell you they shouldnt have.
Also send the form in yourself and dont get JCP to fastrack it as ive seen more often than not it actually takes longer that way.0 -
Well thanks DX2 you have been oh so helpful, keep up the good work. I don't need any other help from you:j Mummy to little Poppy June :j0
