American Express 6 months interest fre - repay by date?

I have an Amex card under the zero percent on purchases for the first 6 months deal, have run up a balance that I want to repay in full before any interest becomes chargeable.
Not sure on what date the card was 'issued' or the account 'opened' but the first transaction was 25th of August 2010. 6 Months from this date is thus 26th of February. however I have rung customer services who state that I only need to repay the balance by 19th March. Obviously I would be happy to go with this date but generally it is much easier to get it right first than to have to go back and argue the case if it turns out CS advice is wrong.
Does anyone have any experience with the introductory period for this card?
