Computer Ports, Chat rooms and filtering

Hi all.
Complicated one here....
Our ISP has a filtering solution which gives us a proxy server to block out dodgy sites. I've blocked port 80 on our router (blocking web access) which means we can only get web access on port 3128 (which gives us the filtered feed). This blocks out !!!!!! sites, but I really want to block out java chat rooms as well. What port do java chat rooms use? I want to block access on the router.

Hi there Baritone,
I hope you don't mind but I was just about to post the opposite question to you so I thought I'd add mine here and hopefully get the answer to both blocking and unblocking ports.
I've just changed to broadband and I've found that some sites that I visit are being blocked (not !!!!!! sites!). I'd like to know how to unblock ports.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
For both of you to have a chance of getting this answered, can you tell us what firewall you are using, and if it's not windows, is the windows firewall disabled.I haven't been asked to tell you that I'm the Board Drunk for this board. As the night wears on, my posts will become worse, with simple spelling mistakes, inane ramblings, and a blatant disregard for the truth. I have no authority to do anything, so there's no point asking or telling me. If you see me past midnight, please tell me to get my coat and order me a taxi.

Hello criminal, thanks for replying.
I have Windows firewall turned off and the McAfee firewall turned on. I hope that this helps.:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0
