funnily enough loujay, mine is also a repossession that was supposedly meant to be completed in 28 days however the seller's solicitor has been so slow to answer enquiries and send documents (took us over a month just to get a copy of the lease from him) that 28 days is long behind us, everything is still on track to happen though so dont panic about the 28 days thing!

Thats good to hear. The EA doesnt even have all the keys so weve not seen in the garage, been through the front door or the patio doors yet. When we asked today if they had the keys yet, they said it isnt yours until you exchange. My hubby said yes I know, I asked if you had the keys, not to have them. We are doubting whether there are any more keys which will be a nightmare as someone has them and we wont be able to move our stuff in through the back door, it aint big enough.
New thread coming up I think.
    Thanks for replying.

Repossessions seem to be full of suprises, but not all bad ones. When I finally got a copy of the lease it turned out that my flat comes with a garden! The EA told me the garden all belongs to the ground floor flat but it turns out they were guessing and that in fact the garden is split in two between the two flats.

I had my valuation and survey done based on there being no garden so its starting to look even more like a bargain buy! Maybe when you finally get to look in your garage you will discover it has been converted into a sauna and hot-tub room or something! Fingers crossed for us both...

Yes now that would be nice. The house was valued based on a house only, the garage is in a small colony behind the house and the EA wasnt aware of it until we told them as we know someone in the street who told us it had a garage. We have wondered what may be in it!
Fingers crossed it all goes well for us both.
  • I came across the question of deposits recently.
I read the "Which" guide to moving house.
It said a 5% deposit for houses at £100,000 or under
    and 10% on others.
At the top of the chain this would mean a deposit of £60,000.
The solicitor was asked about this.
She said don't worry about it You will get a deposit from your buyer.
Add a few thousand to that and pass it up the chain.
