  • I wouldn't enter that market if you don't know it very well - it's tough enough when you do know about SEO etc to make money on the internet without an initial investment

I would suggest do the course at https://www.challenge.co , you can start any time, and they guide you through researching markets, building a seo website, getting traffic and customers, then making a product. Completely free, you probably need 15 quid for a domain name and hosting and that should be it.

It's a very difficult thing to get into. I always thought there was a simple system but after a couple of years I've wised up and learned properly. For now have a look at freelancer.com and see if anything there takes your fancy.

I did the challenge and although I found some useful info and a start in learning about SEO through it, I found it wasn't long before they srated giving me "free" trials of various programmes I would need.

I soon figured that once the challenge ended I would need to pay out a good bit to keep all these free trials going long enough to get my web business going!

I ended up using another system to build a website where everything was included in the package. It does not promise a get rich quick but it does give you all the tools you need to build a steady business from home with a decent income at the end of it. I'm happy with the way it's heading anyway.

I have started taking on people through sites like fiverr as freelancers to write articles for me and there are plenty of other similar sites. So it really depends if you need a wage now in which case look at freelancing, or if you want to build a business over time where you will be eventually taking on the freelancers but intially have no wage yourself - in this case build the site!

Working online is no different to anything else - you need to decide if you want to be the waiter / waitress or the restaurant owner, thats the way I look at it!!

Selling stuff online is difficult, or should I say making money online. Perhaps eBay would be worth a try? Although the fees are so high these days its difficult to make anything more than pennies!

Making money on the internet is not very easy - despite all the hype. I'm afraid it's only the "hypers" that make any money and that's out of poor people who are desperate for income. You may do better using your English or french skills.
I assume you are a fluent French speaker - can you teach French to ex-pats and their children in your neighbourhood?
Can you sell books and CDs etc on Amazon.fr ? Sorry don't know what the demand is there. I sell on Amazon.co.uk here.
Can you capitalise on your language in any other way? Work for an estate agent showing English people houses?
Could you translate anything for English/French people?
Perhaps could you help English people with French builders?
Could you buy something in bulk in England - then take it back to France and sell it to ex-pats? Tea? Baked beans? Marmite?:rotfl:
    Run out of ideas now!

They don't - thats what I found out! "The challenge" consists of teaching you to use their products which are good but once the free trial ends, add up to be very expensive:mad:

I did the first 2 weeks I think and then decided that unless I was prepared to throw money at it there was no point in learning that way. I carried on to learn the same principles of SEO but in a more realistic time and cost effective way!
