Vanquis sent me a credit card even though I said "no". What should I do?!

in Credit cards
I stupidly applied for a Vanquis Credit Card near the end of last year as Topcashback were doing £30 CB for a successful application. However, after I thought about it, I changed my mind. When Vanquis rang to discuss my application, I told them I had changed my mind and did not want to persue the application any further.
However, they didn't seem to take "No" as an answer and kept ringing and ringing, as much as 5 times in one day!! Each time I told them I wasn't interested and to stop ringing!!
Imagine my amazement then when a Vanquis Credit Card turned up on in my post on Friday morning, and then yesterday my Pin!!
Are they breaking the law by doing this?? Who do I complain to??
I have cut the card up and destroyed the pin.
I'm livid!!!

You could probably complain to the ombudsman but you did apply for it so you shouldn't be to suprised that it turned up, you probably agreed to everything you needed to on your computer screen for them to send you one.
I'm not really sure why you are so livid you just saw some easy money and now you have an unwanted card showing up on your credit report. It's not really doing you any harm but if you don't want things like this to happen then don't be so greedy when you see what looks like easy money. There's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.0 -
Phone them up and cancel it.0

Don't credit cards come with a 7 or 14 day "right to change your mind"? I'd be looking right through the terms and conditions for words to this effect. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

I would say ring them to cancel and ask them to remove the search based on your explanation. Usually applying online means agreeing to it though it seems strange to me as to why they had to ring you if this was the case.0

I am livid because i told them repeatedly that i did NOT want the card and the fact they kept calling me when I asked them not to.
I think it's quite ironic that you would call me "greedy" when this site is full of ways to earn a bit of extra cash, which was what I was doing. I'm sure many people have and would do the same.
In ref to other posts, when I pressed the "apply" button it told me that my application was pending and that a member of staff from Vanquis would call me to discuss my application further."you can grow flowers from where dirt used to be..."0 -
It still did the application so the search would stand, why not take the card and £30 and close it once recieved. No harm.0

If you didn't want the card you shouldn't have applied for the card in the first place instead you saw a free £30 and got greedy. You're not out of pocket and indeed you should get your £30 cashback, so it seems to me you got what you originally wished for, maybe you should be more careful about what you wish for in future. There's no sense crying over every mistake.

It's hard to feel sorry for you when you actually applied. LOL. Sorry bud. Cancel it anyways.0

I feel sorry for the OP. It's such a shame that he/she applied for a credit card and received it. Darn those evil banks! We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I have sympathy for him here, as people sometimes do change their minds and if they tried contacting him to confirm and he insisted no, then Vanquis SHOULD NOT have issued the card.0
