Has anyone heard of Citibank?

I received this today in my junkmail and think it may be a scam.

"Your request for Express Transfer from your Citi account to your bank account ending in 0905, has been received and is in process.

This process usually takes 6-8 working hours to complete but is dependent on your account preferences."

It then gave a link for more information and when I clicked on the link within the e-mail it took me to an page which looked legit, but it required debit card number and pin to go any further.

I just exited the page.

I checked my cards and as they did not end with the numbers in the e-mail I have assumed it is a scam.

Has anyone else received a similar e-mail? ???

Citibank is an American Bank, the email you describe is a Scam known as Phishing.

Scammers send out mails to people hoping to get their hands one your Personal Details and PIN Numbers.

These people need to be traced and thrown in jail IMHO.

I have received the same E-Mail - HOTMAIL automatically put into junk mail - so has another MSE user.

The E-Mail address I use for this site is used only for this site so I think someone is harvesting E-Mail addresses from this site to perpetrate this scam!

Dont think so, if your email is hidden then the only way they could get our email addys is through the site owner/webmaster and i have enough faith in Martin to know he wouldnt do that.

Yes, I have posted as a GUEST once - using the same E-Mail acdress that I have as a registered user. I had forgotten that! Will send a PM with the address.

Does the same apply to the other users that have received E-Mails?

Not had one from Citibank but the Bank of America requested that I update my account details.

I was not aware I had an off shore account?
