I had a Nationwide credit card which has expired. The balance on this card is £400, i have made regular weekly payments to this card in order to bring balance down. The card expired 4 years ago.
I applied to Barclaycard so i could obtain a new credit card with 0% interest or 13 months. Barclays issued me with a new card no problem. In order to do a balance tranfer Barclays said they need Nationwide cc account number which i have also expiry date of Nationwide card which i dont have.
When i asked Nationwide for a new card they said my account has been blocked and they will not issue a new card.
My credit history is very good no defaults or missed payments. What can i do about this situation ? Nationwide have said i need to pay of the balance before they will issue a new card or use another credit card to pay off the balance which then defeats the object of obtaining 0% credit card tranfer.

Use the 16 digit account number printed on all of your statements and if Barclaycard ask for an expiry date make it up (04/11, for example).
You don't need a card on the account to do a balance transfer and the expiry date isn't actually used during the transfer of funds from Barclaycard to Nationwide (no card issuers bar Barclaycard actually ask for the expiry date).
Good luck!
