Local Authority Voluntary Redundancy Pay?

All employees of our LA have been invited to make 'expressions of interest' in voluntary redundancy. We have all been given a rough guide to the payment we can expect and I was wondering how this compares with other LA's. (The terms were changed about 6 months ago, probably in anticipation of job losses.)
The LA will only consider up to 20 years service (I have 27) and at age 50 I would get approx 25 weeks salary. Those over 55 can take their pension. As yet no word on when redundancy would take effect, PILON etc. I am considering it but would love to know how this offer compares to other LA's.
Thanks!

No offers of voluntary redundancy in my particular bit of the LA. It's all about the 'redeployment' (which translates as 'forcing you to take wildly unsuitable jobs, ignoring legitimate arguments - don't drive? tough sh*t you can do an 8 mile round trip by foot or forfeit statutory redundancy). Currently ours is doing a nice line in removing people from fixed term contracts and putting them on the redeployee list, just to put another redeployee in their place (thereby moving people from a job they can do to one they can't for no discernible reason).

Oh.. and ours are changing the terms as they go along. Employment contract's not worth the paper it's written on!

Just consider yourself lucky you get a payout, i'm facing no job and two weeks pay to make up for it. :(

My LA is offering terms at 1.75 weeks for each year capped at 20 years. Over 55's can apply for pension early.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
