I have a miscellaneous adjustment charge on my final statement from British Gas, £70 gas and £30 electricity. Is there any advice available on reclaiming these?
They are cancellation fees for leaving the company whilst on Fixed Price 2011, a tariff you would have agreed some 2 years ago. It is extremely unlikely you'll have grounds for getting this back.0 -

I just received £60 in fees for cancellation as I am switching provider.
However the T&C states If you cancel this agreement, either by moving to another gas or electricity supplier or by requesting to change your gas and/or electricity to another of our tariff(s) at any time prior to 31st January 2011 we may apply a cancellation charge.......
I did not change prior to 31st January 2011 I changed on 31st January 2011 and the cheeky erbs have charged me. It only says "may" too it does not say its definite.
So I have filled in a complaint to see what they would do.
They have sent me a letter twice asking me to stay and to point out the benefits of staying with British Gas, none of which stated they are cheaper than the competition !!0 -

When did you agree the sale with the other provider? I'm guessing you were on Track and Save or the Discount Tracker?0 -

!!
There is a bit of a contradiction here, even if you contacted another company on the 1st never mind the 31st Jan, it would take several weeks before a change over can be finalised.0
