New TV set up problem

Options
Hi all

Apolgies for my technical ignorance.

I have just bought a second flat screen TV. The first one was not a problem to set up but I have an issue with my new Toshiba. The screen format is fine when using Freeview but when I play a DVD it goes to 4:3 and in all bar one instance the satellite TV shows in 4:3 and not 16:9. I did not do anything different the one time it ran as 16:9.

My first TV has never gone to 4:3 when using Freeview, playing a DVD or watching Sky TV.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What aspect is the DVD you are playing? If it's 4:3 then the 2nd tv could be auto sensing it - and the first tv may be set to fixed aspect. That would also go for Sky, as some programs are still transmitted in 4:3

I would echo what davb said.
  • Thanks both. Yes, its is an old DVD player which only has 4:3 format. How do I set my new Toshiba to ignore this format?

Turn scart control off on the TV.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
