Bank account with no postal activity

Posted on behalf of a mate who is going though a messy divorce:
Mentioned a while back that I would be getting divorced, the whole situation is starting to get a bit messy.

Anyway, I need to open another bank account, preferably an on-line one that would be able to send any communications either to an e-mail address or to my office address.

Any suggestions for good on-line banks?

He currently lives away from home but the post is sent to his 'home' address and is being opened by his (soon to be ex) wife. I have already suggested getting the Royal Mail to hold his post or redirect his mail to another address. Any other suggestions?

HSBC allow you to receive email updates rather than postal ones once registered with internet banking.

I know there are a few others but I can't remember them off the top of my head.
  • I know HSBC can let you not receive postal statements instead you get internet banking with access to statements, I am not sure but I think Smile do too??? (I think someone told me but I really can't remember) Try Cahoot, IF too.
A word of caution though...with your friend going through a divorce, he may be asked to disclose his financial status if his (ex) wife requests financial support so if he was going to be using the new account to put money away from is ex, she could go to court and they could order him to disclose his financial standing.
Best thing would be to either arrange redirection, mailsafe (mail stop for up to 2 months) or he can opt to collect mail directly from the delivery office before 9am.

    Best wishes,
