Pc was then clear on a restart...
Firstly thanks for the article - very interesting.
secondly - I find that if it wont allow me to delete any IE temp files,
I run DISK CLEANUP , then click "show files" - I can delete them.
slightly quicker than booting into safe mode.0 -
A nice way to totally clear Temporary Internet Files is to drag the index.dat file into the Secure Shredder of Spybot S&D. You then get new hidden folders on restart.
Not all methods clear the hidden folders and you can otherwise have hundreds of files still there. I've noticed "Search Engine Optimisation" consultants that claim to work "behind the scenes" secretly filling the place with gunk before now ... sent them a very rude anonymous message via their website.
The index.dat file and hidden folders are in
C:\Documents and Settings\..~..\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5
nb it's still IE5 even if you have IE60 -
seen a few posts about this sort of stuff the last few days so thought I'd "bump" the article back upEx forum ambassador
