I have a macbook running OS 10.5.8 and have recently got a Samsung Galaxy S.
The computer will not recognise the phone on usb connection and wondered if any one can help

I did google for the answer to this and as a result have switched on the debugging on the phone but still nothing :(

Anyone got any advice please :)

I found this that may help - it seems from Google that this is not uncommon.

yes and i have been using that to get the music over - not sure what the real benefits of a usb connection would be other than ease of transfer does anyone know? I guess I will be able to do software updates etc on the phone anyway so maybe it doesnt really matter.

when you connect the phone to the laptop with a usb cable, pull down the notification bar and there should be an option to 'enable mass storage mode' or words to similar effect, select that option.

just remember to safely eject the phone before you yank out the usb cable.

also afaik the only way to update samsung android phones is through their windows software (which is silly because android fully supports OTA updates)

Yep, OH had this problem. Kies just wont work with Mac. In the end OH updated via DD's old laptop but even that wasn't without issues.
