hi, first post so please excuse any mistakes...
I have up until recently been on income support in which everything was included (sda, child tax credit, lone parent), last week out of the blue i was informed i was no longer entitled to income support and needed to claim JS, at a meeting i informed them i had narcolepsy and other issues and was unable to work, so now have been put on ESA. however the job centre does not seem to know their left hand from their right and no-one seems to know if i'll continue to get SDA or anything else... Can they drop my money from £175 a week to about £50 (believe £50 is the starting rate of ESA).. i am stuck on who to ask as the Job Centre just keep sending me from one department to another and am getting no-where. If anyone one could help i'd be grateful.. Thanks

OK, well depsite working for the job centre myself I do know what my left and right hand are doing so I shall try and answer your questions.
You need to make a claim for ESA if you havnt already done so. ESA will only pay for the adult/s so if you also need to make a claim for child tax credits for your child/ren.
Depending on your age will depend on how much ESA you will receive but assuming you are over 25 years old it will be £65.45 per week.
Are you in receipt of DLA middle or higher rate care componant? If so then there will be enhanced disability living premium and/or severe disability premium paid on top of the regular £65.45.
Hope this answers your questions.0 -
