I asked what the debt was for to which she very snootily replied "it say's on the letter who/what it was for, Kim. I told her that while YES i CAN read i still don't know what this debt is from, it infuriated me that she was calling me by my first name like i was an old friend, and my surname was spelled incorrectly! I am sure the only admittance on my part was to splutter over an 11 year old debt that i am fairly certain hasn't been used in about 9 years, I also confirmed that while working i am currently on maternity leave and that i couldn't afford the settlement figure, and i would get back to them. Is this admittance:o0

Nope. Whatever you say on the phone won't count. It legally has to be written acknowledgment.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Even if it did, you didn't say anything that could be construed as accepting accountability for the debt.
